Systemic Racism

The death of George Floyd in 2020 has focused the world on the racism faced by Black Americans, but the discrimination faced by BIPOC individuals is deeply entrenched and extends across borders and professions. 
I personally began reporting more in depth about the erosion of already tenuous relationships between diverse communities and their police force following the death of Somali-Canadian Abdirahman Abdi during a violent arrest by Ottawa Police in 2016.  
My reporting has revealed unfair treatment not just in policing but in education, healthcare and professional sport.
Only when we report with care, can we initiate change.
